Carl began riding at age five. By age ten, he was riding english while attending school in England.

By sixteen, Carl was employed as a groom and exercise boy for a 3-Day Eventer from Vancouver Island. At the same time he began competing in rodeos.

At eighteen Carl began breaking colts for people. This was due to his connection and acquaintances from the rodeo arena and was a large factor in his horse training career today.

By twenty he had graduated from the Oklahoma Farrier College thus rounding his experience in the horse industry.

During the early 1990’s Carl rode with the late, great Cutting Horse man Jimmy MacDonald, training and competing in several arenas from the Canadian National Appaloosa Show to Cuttings & Team Pennings.

In the last 12 years, he has focused on Quarter Horse and Paint breed shows, Reining and Working Cow Horse competitions and some Team Roping during the slower winter months.
